The Beat Goes On is proud to present the thirteenth installment of our series
dedicated to showcasing the music of a generation. Following on such diverse
evenings as The British Invasion, Hullabaloo, The Brill Building, Nuggets and
The Rat Pack, The Beat Goes On presents an evening of selections from the
Rockin 70s. As always, we feature an all-star band with Andy York (John
Mellencamp, Ian Hunter), Jack Petruzelli (Joan Osbourne, Fab Faux), Tony
Shanahan (Patti Smith, Ian Hunter), Rich Pagano (Fab Faux) and Andy Burton
(Peter Noone) hosted by Meg Griffin.
The evening will showcase a wide variety of pop and rock selections from our
collective youth including such diverse selections as American Girl, Heart of
Glass, After the Gold Rush, Magic, Why Cant We Be Friends, Last Dance, Band
of Gold, Dont Go Breaking My Heart, Lean on Me, Billy Dont Be a Hero, Jackie
Blue and No Woman, No Cry.
The Beat Goes On prides itself with bringing together a cross section of New
York's vibrant music community. This show will feature artists including
Phoebe Snow, Thurston Moore, Jim O'Rourke, Everett Bradley, Don Fleming, Willie Nile, The
Kennedys, Joy Askew, Ivan Julian, Carlton Smith, Ricky Byrd, Joe Hurley,
Christine Ohlman, Mary Lee Kortes, Antonique Smith and many others.
The New York Press has said about this series its "A tremendous
entertainment value" while the Village Voice notes its "Always fun" and
the New York Times calls it "A sparkling tribute show". Billboard also
sang the shows praises in its review of Volume 11 "Summer in the City". So
stroll on down to the Bottom Line on Friday February 8 for a night of some of the best music New York has to offer.
