HOWARD FISHMAN QUARTET Friday, April 12, 2002 The dry wit and deeply skewed musings of English pop-rocker Robyn Hitchcock have earned him a legion of fans around the world. According to Robyn, his songs have always been about "the shock of existence," while at the same time celebrating the redeeming qualities of love. In the end, there is no standard by which to judge Robyn and his highly inventive and quirky musical visions of the world. From their not-so-humble beginnings at The Algonquin Oak Room where they received glowing notices from The New York Times, the Howard Fishman Quartet became a permanent fixture in NYC by exploring their roots in jazz, swing, country and blues. The ever-evolving HFQ is now proving their chops by experimenting with the sounds of pop, rock, punk and hip hop. |
